Porsche Cayenne has been a stellar name in the midsize luxury crossover segment for over two decades now. Porsche introduced the SUV in 2002 and it proved to be pivotal for the company, resulting in higher-than-expected sales at the time. Throughout the years, multiple generations have come and gone for the vehicle and we’re currently witnessing the last few years of the third generation Cayenne.
Porsche recently announced its plans for the fourth-generation Cayenne to be launched in the coming years. Much like other manufacturers, the German automaker is eyeing a future in electric cars as all major models in the company’s lineup are expected to make the switch from gasoline to electric, and the new Cayenne will be no different. With that being said, here are some things we already know about the 2026 Porsche Cayenne EV.
Does The Porsche Cayenne Come In Electric?
The 2026 model will be vastly different from the current Cayenne, as it will be the first all-electric variant. This means the 2026 Cayenne will be the fourth Porsche to get the all-electric treatment. The Taycan was the first in 2021, and it is being followed up by the Macan in 2024 and the 718 in 2025.
All of these EV introductions are part of Porsche’s high sustainability targets, as the company has announced to target 80% of its sales from EVs by 2030. This means the 2026 Cayenne EV will belong to a bigger portfolio of electric cars from Porsche when it is launched. Notably, no plans for discontinuing the combustion models have been announced so far.
What Will Be The Range Of The 2026 Porsche Cayenne EV?
Porsche’s R&D lead Michael Steiner explained in his presentation during the company’s 2022 Capital Markets Day that the battery-powered Cayenne and the Macan EV will both share the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture. The PPE platform is co-developed with Audi, and we know that it will also come equipped with the 2024 Audi Q6 e-tron.
While Porsche is yet to announce the Cayenne EV’s range, Audi has already unveiled that the 2024 Q6 e-tron will promise 372 miles of range as per Audi’s technical development head Oliver Hoffmann. Based on the same architecture, the Cayenne EV shouldn’t be much different. However, it’s best to wait for official confirmation from Porsche for now.
When Will Porsche Release The Electric Cayenne?
During Porsche’s annual press conference, the company CEO Oliver Blume confirmed that the launch date of the fourth-generation Cayenne EV is scheduled shortly after the upcoming Macan and 718 models in 2024 and 2025 respectively. This leaves 2026 as the possible year when we finally see the third-gen Cayenne hybrid model being replaced with the new EV.
While there are no official confirmations yet on the possible launch date for the fourth-gen Cayenne EV, we could find out very soon, so it’s best to keep a check regularly.
How Much Will The Cayenne EV Cost?
Although the new all-electric Cayenne will be taking over soon, as of yet there isn’t any information available on whether the EV will retain a similar trim breakdown or how much will it cost. The third-gen model offers a base trim along with an S variant, with the most expensive Cayenne being a high-performance GTS trim.
Currently, we can only estimate the prices for the Cayenne EV based on the third generation’s pricing. Stay tuned for more updates as we get to know further about the 2026 Cayenne EV’s starting price and trims.
