Now even Crispin Odey & Co suffer a slump… but hedge fund boss and colleagues will share £19m in profits

Slump: Veteran hedge fund boss Crispin Odey

Veteran hedge fund boss Crispin Odey and more than a dozen colleagues will share £19million in profits from his asset management fund.

But the pot – for the year to April 5, 2022 – is less than half the £40million enjoyed the previous year. Odey Asset Management did not say what had caused the slump.

But the accounts showed income from the UK, its biggest market by a long stretch, more than halved to £18million. In the US, it fell 58 per cent to £12.4million.

Odey has a reputation for cashing in on market turmoil.

The 64-year-old tycoon has been reported as a major beneficiary of the bond crisis triggered by Liz Truss and Kwasi Kwarteng’s calamitous mini-Budget in September last year.

The highest-paid director at Odey Asset Management received more than £5million in the year to April, but it did not say if that was Odey himself.
