BRO build world’s highest tunnel at Shinku La Pass to connect Himachal to Ladakh in record time

Shinku La top: It remains closed for long periods in the winter because of heavy snowfall. Last year the pass was closed for almost 5 months.This year the pass was kept open till January last week, and closed only after a long spell of heavy snowfall.In 2022 the Border Roads Organisation set up ‘Project Yojak’ with a mandate to maintain roads and improve connectivity in areas along India’s borders.Amidst freezing temperature at 16,580 feet, jawans working under Project Yojak opened Shinku La in record time this year
