Banks are closed in this state on May 9 for Rabindra Jayanti


Banks in West Bengal are closed on May 9, 2023 on account of the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore. While in other states, banks will be working as a normal working day.
The famous Bengali poet, scholar, novelist, playwright, humanist, philosopher, and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s birth day is commemorated on Rabindra Jayanti. The holiday is observed in May on the ninth day of Boishakh, the Bengali calendar month.In May banks are closed on various occasions such as Maharashtra Day/May Day, Buddha Purnima, Birthday of Rabindranath Tagore, State Day and Maharana Pratap Jayanti due to which banks will be closed across respective states. Along with above mentioned holidays, banks will be closed on Sundays, second and fourth Saturdays.

May 9 (Tuesday)- Birthday of Rabindranath Tagore: Bengal
May 16 (Tuesday)- State Day: Sikkim
