Bank of America Hit With Patent Suit Over Authentication Tech – Bloomberg Law


Bank of America Corp. was accused by a data security company of infringing six patents for technology used to authenticate a user’s identity.

PACid Technologies LLC sued Tuesday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas, claiming that Bank of America’s mobile apps implement patented improvements to features that enable a user to transmit encoded communications without entering a user ID or password.

The complaint specifically targets Bank of America apps which support the authentication protocol adopted by the Fast Identity Online (FIDO) Alliance. FIDO-Ready software named in the lawsuit includes Bank of America Mobile Banking, BofA …
