A TRAVEL expert has revealed the shocking reason you should never use the hotel iron in your room.
Influencer @safaratravels posts videos providing advice and insight into swanky hotels around the world.
In the clip, entitled “Travel mistakes you probably didn’t know part 2”, Safara admits that while it is “nice and convenient”, guests should avoid the iron provided in your room like the plague.
“Do not use the iron provided in the hotel room especially if it is on nice clothes”, she warns.
“Hotel irons aren’t cleaned between room changeovers so you could be left with something really bad from the previous guest”.
Content creator Safara also slammed a bizarre new trend where visitors attempt to cook food items such as pizza and quesadillas on the kit.

Rather, Safara suggested an alternative to the oxidised add-on, as well as a tried and tested method to test the iron’s cleanliness.
She continued: “Instead, you should steam your clothes while you take a shower.
“Or if you really need the iron try it on a wet towel before using it on your clothes.”
Users who flocked to the comments were predominantly horrified by those using an iron as cooking equipment.
“Iron Mac and Cheese?!”, one queried?
Another chimed in: “There’s a trend to cook food on the iron???
“No way!!!”
It comes after one travel guru revealed the smart hotel hacks she swears by whenever she’s on holiday.
Samantha Brown has visited at least 62 countries during her illustrious career as a TV presenter.
Elsewhere, another expert lifted the lid on the best time for holidaymakers to make their move and get a sun lounger, while also having a lie in.
Every summer, people are seen getting up as early as possible to battle others to claim their spot by the pool.
