A video of the insect is going viral on the internet, which was posted on the social media site X. The six-second clip features a high-definition, close-up view of the butterfly. The first shot shows the insect in the air, flying towards a leaf; then in the next, it is resting on it, showing off its transparent, blue hued wings, with brown borders. The Glasswing butterfly is scientifically called Greta oto. Its transparent wings help them camouflage easily. This butterfly is mostly found in central, and the northern regions of South America. They are reported to be found in places like Chile, Mexico, and Texas. According to more information, this butterfly may appear delicate and fragile because of its wings, but it can carry 40 times its own weight. This insect has also shown migratory behaviours, as well as lekking, which is a type of courting ritual observed in certain animals.

This butterfly can travel up to 19 km per day, with a speed of 13 km per hour. They are mostly hunted by birds, so that they use their wings to camouflage themselves in the background, mid-flight.
