CNN and Fox News Announce Harris and Trump Town Halls

With another presidential debate looking increasingly unlikely, the cable news networks have pivoted to another format they know well—town halls.

On Friday, CNN and Fox News both announced separate town halls with the candidates. Vice President Kamala Harris will appear on CNN, while former President Donald Trump will be on Fox.

CNN’s live town hall is scheduled for Oct. 23 in Delaware County, PA. That’s notably the same day that the network had proposed for its second presidential debate—an offer that Harris accepted and Trump rejected. Anderson Cooper will moderate the event, which will air on CNN and stream on digital platforms including CNN.com and CNN Max at a still-to-be-determined time.

Meanwhile, Fox News will hold its town hall with Trump at Reid Barn in Cumming, GA. Harris Faulkner will host the event, which will be taped on Oct. 15 and air the next day at 11 a.m. ET on The Faulkner Focus. The town hall will specifically focus on issues impacting women and the audience will be entirely female.

Both networks have extended invitations to organize town halls for the other candidate. CNN offered to organize a separate town hall for Trump on Oct. 23, while Fox News has not set a date for its proposed town hall with Harris.
