Olivia Nuzzi Parts Ways With New York Magazine

The saga of Olivia Nuzzi, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and New York Magazine has come to an end. In a note to readers on Monday, the Vox Media-owned publication announced that it was parting ways with its star political reporter after she admitted to an alleged affair with the former presidential candidate.

“The magazine and Nuzzi agreed that the best course forward is to part ways,” the statement reads. “Nuzzi is a uniquely talented writer and we have been proud to publish her work over her nearly eight years as our Washington Correspondent. We wish her the best.”

CNN’s former media reporter, Oliver Darcy, was the first to break the news of Nuzzi and Kennedy’s entanglement on his Status newsletter. Nuzzi, who had profiled Kennedy for a New York cover story, was suspended while the magazine conducted an internal survey of her work.

In a statement given to The New York Times last month, Nuzzi characterized her relationship with Kennedy as “never physical” and emphasized that she never used him as a source. “I deeply regret not doing so immediately and apologize to those I’ve disappointed, especially my colleagues at New York,” she added.

In its initial note to reader, New York said that it had “found no inaccuracies nor evidence of bias” in Nuzzi’s work. The magazine subsequently enlisted an outside law firm, Davis Wright Tremaine, to conduct its own review. According to New York’s updated statement, the firm arrived at the same conclusion.
