THOMASVILLE – Former Yellow Jackets and Bulldogs took to the field and made some major contributions in week 10 of the college football season.
Former Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets Clayton Hutto and Caleb Anderson have quickly become two of the best defenders on UPIKE’s roster. In the Bears’ 23-21 loss to Point University, Hutto led the Bears with six solo tackles and seven total tackles. Anderson was right behind his teammate, finishing with four solo tackles and five total tackles.
Jimmy Dawson made an impact in Albany State’s two-point loss to Savannah State. He finished with two solo tackles and three total tackles. His biggest contribution to the Golden Rams was a sack for a ten-yard loss and a forced fumble. Ty Brown was the only former Yellow Jacket to get a win in week 10, as he played in Valdosta State’s 52-0 win over Chowan. The Blazers are now ranked number one in the AFCA Division II coaches poll.
Pitt suffered their first loss of the season to an impressive SMU team, but it may have felt like a win for Malachi Thomas. Thomas caught two passes for 22 yards against the Mustangs and, with 23 seconds left in the game, caught his first touchdown of his young collegiate career.
For the Bulldogs, Joshua Jones saw the field in Thomas University’s tough 75-21 loss to Florida Memorial. Ty Anderson had two solo tackles and three total tackles in ETSU’s six-point loss to Mercer.
