U.S. shares higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.97%



Investing.com – U.S. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the added 0.97% to hit a new all time high, while the index climbed 0.35%, and the index gained 0.15%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Boeing Co (NYSE:), which rose 4.10% or 5.88 points to trade at 149.29 at the close. Nike Inc (NYSE:) added 3.06% or 2.30 points to end at 77.40 and American Express Company (NYSE:) was up 2.83% or 8.30 points to 301.30 in late trade.

Biggest losers included NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:), which lost 3.27% or 4.79 points to trade at 141.88 in late trade. Unitedhealth Group (NYSE:) declined 1.12% or 6.71 points to end at 590.78 and Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:) shed 0.68% or 0.68 points to 99.18.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 11.62% to 33.15, Copart Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 10.19% to settle at 62.70 and Moderna Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 7.48% to close at 41.11.

The worst performers were Intuit Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 5.68% to 640.12 in late trade, Palo Alto Networks Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 3.58% to settle at 383.46 and NetApp Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 3.43% to 122.34 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Palladyne AI Corp (NASDAQ:) which rose 130.00% to 4.60, Quantum Corporation (NASDAQ:) which was up 127.11% to settle at 9.13 and Nano Labs Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:) which gained 89.02% to close at 8.26.

The worst performers were Autonomix Medical Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 53.55% to 6.28 in late trade, Cemtrex Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 41.59% to settle at 0.11 and Ensysce Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 27.41% to 0.43 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2088 to 719 and 84 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2301 rose and 988 declined, while 128 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 9.54% to 15.26.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.34% or 35.80 to $2,710.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.64% or 1.15 to hit $71.25 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.23% or 0.91 to trade at $75.14 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.54% to 1.04, while USD/JPY rose 0.21% to 154.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.51% at 107.48.
