How to choose the best early Black Friday video game deals

Video game discounts are a bit of a rare bird. Most titles don’t receive any kind of markdown until they’ve been out for a while, and even then, you may only be saving $10 or $15. If you’re trying to find the best deals, you’ll want to keep tabs on go-to game retailers like Best Buy and Amazon. One good idea is you can usually filter search results just to include Black Friday markdowns. This will give you a good idea of what the best discounts are for that particular week, and you may even see a countdown timer that will let you know when the sale is over.

It’s also a good idea to see what some of the best-reviewed and most popular games of the year have been. We here at Digital Trends have numerous reviews of the top 2024 titles. Whether you’re shopping for a PlayStation devotee or someone who owns a Switch, there’s not a console we don’t have experience covering.

How we chose the best early Black Friday video game deals

We follow a lot of the same advice we dished out above when it comes to choosing the best early Black Friday video game deals. We also have a pantheon of gamer knowledge to lean on, as some of our most decorated writers and reviewers are big into gaming. And while big discounts are a top priority, we do our best to select the best-reviewed games of the bunch. We actually passed on one or two good sales because we knew the game in question wasn’t very good.

We know what retailers to flock to and which to stay away from as well. Best Buy, Amazon, and Walmart are always solid contenders, and Target isn’t half-bad, either. Plus, we have a handful of inspiring roundups to look at, including the best video games, the best PC games, and the best Steam games. So, it’s certainly safe to say we know a thing or two about the world of gaming!
