In the era of cursed meme culture and scarily relatable brain rot, I find my sense of humour increasingly more unhinged and unfiltered. I truly feel like I’ve seen everything and yet, every day the internet never fails to astound me with whatever demonic hilarity my algorithm bestows upon me.
For this, I love and thank the internet for stretching my psyche and influencing my entire personality in a way I didn’t necessarily ask for. Here are my top 10 cursed and truly genius internet sensations … you’re welcome.
1. Marcus Pork
Marcus Pork is an elderly “fashion designer” who makes graphic merchandise for minority groups. His promotion is unhinged – when I got an ADHD diagnosis he sent me a T-shirt that says “ADHD girl summer, let’s ignore our tasks and get distracted on the beach”. He also has a weird jacked son that may not actually be his son IRL. It’s really weird and honestly very hard to describe, but just take my word for it and check out this page.
2. The VB longneck guy
An oldie but a goodie. So painfully Aussie. But I would ride into battle for this man. I kinda want him to just yell at me all day. I don’t know why.
Watch one of these every morning, I promise you’ll be better for it.
4. Patti Pinkcake
Patti Pinkcake just scratches my brain in a weird way. Something about a white eastern suburbs queen living a white eastern suburbs life just makes me giggle. I want her to take me on her yacht.
5. Sean Stephens on TikTok
I’m not joking when I tell you this man has been all over the world to sing a song called Rectangular. This is my favourite account on the whole internet. I’m sorry for changing your life in this way.
6. ‘I wanna make history’
Disney child star Debby Ryan. This one never gets old. Relatable queen.
7. @mycriinge on Instagram
As the name suggests, this is a whole page dedicated to memes that give me visceral secondhand embarrassment. They never miss. But they’re on private so I’d strongly suggest giving them a follow request. You will not regret it.
8. Recess Therapy
On a cuter and lighter note, kids are so funny and sweet. This page is perfect for the clucky and the wholesome.
9. ‘Chiwiwis!’
I can’t even begin to explain why but I’ve never laughed longer and harder at anything in my life more than the “chiwiwis” edited in at the end. I have now introduced the word “chiwiwis” into mine and all my friends’ vernaculars.
10. ‘Did you guys hear that?’
This is the gift that keeps on giving. She deserves an Oscar for this.
