Heightened Security Measures for GNBVT vs. Dartmouth Basketball Games After Recent Incident – fun107.com

When it comes to any school sports of any type or age group, it’s important to practice sportsmanship and proper etiquette when competing against the opposition.

Unfortunately, a situation that occurred in Dartmouth on the basketball court has raised some concern for surrounding schools in preparation to continue onward with the remaining season in a safe and respectable manner.

Following Monday’s altercation during a girls basketball game between the Dartmouth Indians and Durfee Hilltoppers, Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School has issued new entry restrictions for tonight’s game against Dartmouth.

Both Dartmouth and GNBVT’s girls and boys varsity teams will be playing back-to-back in New Bedford.

GNBVT posted the following message on Facebook to alert the community, only hours before the games:

“Girls & Boys Varsity Basketball vs. Dartmouth Important Announcement:

Only GNBVT & Dartmouth students will be allowed entry into tonight’s basketball games. Students must have their ID for entry. Anyone who does not have their ID will not be allowed into the game. No exceptions.”

We reached out to GNBVT Principal Warley Williams to comment on the announcement posted to social media.

“We just want to have a fun game and let the kids play basketball in safe and secure surroundings,” he said.

The varsity girl’s game is scheduled at 5 p.m. and the varsity boy’s game is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. at GNBVT.
