The ICAR-Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology (ICAR-CIPHET), Ludhiana, has granted a license for its innovative makhana processing technologies to budding entrepreneur.
Makhana, an organic and highly nutritious non-cereal crop, has gained immense popularity in recent years due to its health benefits. It is a rich source of carbohydrates, protein, and essential minerals, making it a preferred snack for health-conscious consumers. The increasing demand has also led to a surge in makhana prices, further highlighting its market potential.
To leverage this growing demand, ICAR-CIPHET has developed advanced processing technologies, including fat-free flavored makhana, cereal gluten-free pasta, makhana kheer mix, and makhana puffs. These innovations aim to enhance the nutritional value and convenience of makhana-based products while catering to evolving consumer preferences.
Anuj Sharma, recognizing the opportunity in the expanding makhana market, successfully completed training at ICAR-CIPHET and was awarded the certificate of licensing by the institute’s Director, Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale.
With this certification, Sharma now has access to technology developed under the leadership of Dr. R. K. Vishwakarma, Principal Scientist at ICAR-CIPHET.
