This is the best iPhone 16e deal we can find as pre-orders go live

Pre-orders have just gone live for the iPhone 16e, Apple’s new cheaper iPhone that replaces the iPhone SE in the company’s smartphone line up. Many UK mobile providers are offering pre-order deals for the device, and we’ve been scouring the prices to find you the best possible deal to take advantage of.

The cheapest deal we’ve seen is with Mobiles.co.uk, the smartphone retailer owned by high street favourite Currys. It’s selling the 128GB iPhone SE in black or white for £28.99 per month with a £9 upfront cost, which gets you 100GB monthly data and unlimited calls and texts on a two-year 24 month contract.

The cost over 24 months therefore is £704.76, which includes the £9 upfront cost. Mobiles.co.uk says the price of the contract will rise to £30.49 per month from April 2026, so that figure will be slightly higher, but how much you pay overall will depend when your contract starts, but take this price rise into account as the overall total will be slightly higher.

This is still an excellent price for a brand new iPhone on launch day. The device you’re getting costs £599 when bought outright, so you’re paying just over £100 over two years for the mobile plan, which is a generous 100GB of monthly mobile data.

This plan is with iD Mobile, the network owned by Mobiles.co.uk that uses the UK’s national Three network to provide your 5G service. iD Mobile has a coverage check webpage if you want to see how good the signal is in your area, but most buyers should not have much issue.

Apple’s new iPhone 16e is a cheaper way to get a modern iPhone with top specs compared to the £799 iPhone 16 or £999 iPhone 16 Pro. The 16e has the same powerful A18 chipset as the iPhone 16, which means the mid-range phone can run Apple Intelligence, Apple’s new AI features that will only work on some of its newest handsets.

You’ll also get a 6.1-inch OLED screen, a 48MP camera, longer battery life than the iPhone 16 (according to Apple), wireless charging and the latest iOS 18 software. The phone also has a USB-C port, with all iPhones now on that port instead of the older Lightning.

Although this £28.99 per month deal is excellent, you should still make sure you can afford to pay the total each month for the duration of the contract before you sign up. While there is stock, Mobiles.co.uk says you’ll receive your phone on February 28, the iPhone 16e’s official on sale date, though check to see the quoted shipping date, as this may be later than that if demand is high.
