BioAsia 2025: 4,000 experts, 84 startups tackle global healthcare and pharma challenges – NewsMeter


Hyderabad: As many as 84 startups participated in BioAsia 2025 discussing and finalising innovative solutions for growing global challenges in healthcare and pharma and creating an ecosystem for industry survival.

A total of 4,000 global leaders, including top pharma and healthcare industry executives, policymakers and innovators from across the world were part of the two-day event in Hyderabad.

Catalysing Innovation and investment

The summit provided a platform for 100 leading experts to discuss pressing challenges in healthcare and pharma, paving the way for transformative solutions.

With 200+ B2B (Business-to-Business) meetings, this year’s event facilitated record-breaking investments.

Notably, US biotech giant Amgen has made a major investment in Telangana, generating 3,000 high-value jobs—a testament to our state’s potential as a life sciences powerhouse.

Empowering the next generation of innovators

This year, young innovators with disruptive ideas participated in large numbers, demonstrating their potential to revolutionise healthcare and biotech.

A total of 84 promising startups showcased groundbreaking innovations, offering solutions to some of the most pressing global challenges.

The Telangana Government is fully committed to supporting innovation, fostering bold ideas and creating an ecosystem where startups and industries thrive together.

Building a future-ready workforce

Telangana is on a mission to become a global hub for high-quality talent. “We are focusing on skilling, upskilling and reskilling programs tailored to industry needs. As part of this commitment, we have launched a specialized course in Synthetic Organic Chemistry in collaboration with four leading industry players,” a public note from the government said.

The first batch of 140 students has successfully completed training, with 82 being women—a significant milestone in promoting gender diversity in STEM.

Impressively, 60 per cent of these students come from rural backgrounds, and half of them are first-generation learners. This underscores the government’s dedication to bridging the urban-rural divide in education and employment opportunities.

Talent is abundant in rural areas and the vision is to identify these bright minds, equip them with world-class skills and transform them into an industry-ready workforce.

As the Heart of Life Sciences, Telangana is taking a giant leap forward in biotech and pharma innovation, said IT minister Sridhar Babu.

Central aid for vaccine testing

Sridhar Babu, who met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday morning, said, “We urged the Central government to establish a state-of-the-art vaccine testing facility at Genome Valley, which will be a game-changer for the industry.”
