New video games to wishlist for the week of 3/17/25 – AIPT

Spring is finally here, with warm weather and sunny days to entice you outside. But why leave your living room when there are dozens of huge games releasing in 2025, including plenty of indies we’ll want to sink our teeth into? Great games are releasing one after the other, so let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition (3/20)

Platform: Switch

Xenoblade Chronicles X originally released in 2015 for all seven Wii U owners, and now it’ll come to a much wider audience on the Nintendo Switch with Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition. You’ll pilot giant robots in battle against enemies and the planet Mira’s native creatures across an open world adventure. The remastered edition promises “newly added story elements” and more additional content according to its eShop page.

33 Immortals (3/18)

Platforms: PC and Xbox Series X/S

One of the most unique co-op adventures releases into early access today in 33 Immortals. You and a whopping 32 other players will join together to fight through Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory in MMO-like raids inspired by the Divine Comedy. It’ll feature four roles — melee, ranged, support, and tank — and 14 weapons inspired by the seven heavenly virtues and seven deadly sins. While 33 Immortals is certainly ambitious, Thunder Lotus Games, after making hits like Spiritfarer, deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows (3/20)

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S

After something of a Gamergate 2.0, claims of cultural insensitivity, and a couple delays, players can finally travel to Japan and become to shinobi they’ve always wanted to be in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Featuring dual protagonists — the assassin Naoe and the historic samurai Yasuke — Shadows tells a story of how vengeance and forgiveness can be intertwined. While the series has taken many iterations over the years, Shadows will look to please all AC fans. It’ll meld together the RPG-intensive elements of the later entries while still including the stealth-focused gameplay the series made its name with.
