THE A52 is closed in both directions after a horror crash, sparking commuter chaos for thousands of drivers.
The stretch, on the outskirts of Derby between M1 junction 25 and Rayneswayon, was shut by cops following the mysterious “police incident”.
The eastbound slip entry slip road from the A5111 is also closed.
Commuters are facing stands-still traffic towards Nottingham as a result – as well as in the surrounding areas of Spondon and Borrowash.
Drivers have been advised to seek alternative routes if they can.
The road was briefly reopened this morning – before closing again.
An update posted by Inrix read: “A52 Brian Clough Way Eastbound closed, slow traffic due to police incident from A6005 Raynesway to Stoney Lane.”
A spokesman for National Highways added: “The A52 in Derbyshire is closed in both directions between the M1 and the A5111 Raynesway due to a police led incident.”
“More information to follow, thank you for your patience.”
