Shoppers heading to Aldi to stock up on treats ahead of New Year’s Eve will have to follow a strict rule.

That’s because the supermarket is imposing a limit on the number of bottles of its Crémant De Loire people can buy.

The budget retailer is slashing the price of the popular fizz just in time for end of the year celebrations, from next Friday (27 December) all the way up until New Year’s Eve. As such, customers will be able to grab Aldi’s Crémant De Loire for just £4.99 a bottle.

Unprecedented demand is expected, so fans of the sparkling drink will only be able to buy two bottles during their shop.

Aldi will introduce a two-bottle purchase limit on its Cr?mant De Loire from Friday 27th December to Tuesday 31st December, when it?s reduced from ?8.99 to ?4.99, just in time for New Year?s celebrations. The supermarket expects unprecedented demand after the 44% price drop was called out as ?the slashed-price steal of the season? by Jane MacQuitty, wine critic at The Times. Launched as part of the supermarket?s latest Autumn Winter range, this Specially Selected sparkling has been praised for its notes of its ?mouthwatering, creamy, honey flecked, quince and golden apple fruit?. Aldi's two-bottle limit aims to give more shoppers a chance to raise a toast to the New Year with this refreshing Cr?mant.

‘We want everyone to be able to raise a glass of quality wine this festive period, without breaking the bank,’ said Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK.

‘By lowering the price of our exquisite Crémant De Loire to just £4.99 and introducing a two-bottle limit, we’re ensuring more customers can experience this exceptional sparkling wine at an unbelievable price.’

So, if you want to grab a bargain bottle of bubbles, we say go early.

But don’t worry if you miss out — Aldi has more critically acclaimed fizz options to go around.

Aldi’s Crémant Du Jura has been hailed an ‘absolute banger’ by wine expert Tom Gilbey. Comparing three budget bottles of fizz, including a Prosecco and a South African Sparkling Wine, he crowned the Crémant Du Jura number one.

‘So zippy,’ he said. ‘It reminds me of being in the mountains… 100% Chardonnay’.

The Du Jura will also be on offer for £8.19, compared to the usual £10.99 between 27 December and 31 December.

Commenters made it clear why purchase limits may have to be imposed: ‘I clear the shelves of that Cremant when it’s in stock!’ said Chloe McGrath. ‘Delicious for the price,’ proclaimed another.

If you can’t manage to find any of these bottles but are looking for a good, cheap drink for NYE, Metro’s drink editor has recommended a bargain from another supermarket – it’s from Lidl and costs just £4.99 a bottle.

The fizz in question is called Vivacello Sparkling,a carbonated Spanish sparkling wine that has delectable flavours of peach, apricot and lively tangerine, plus it’s lower in alcohol at 10.5%.
