Right now, you’ve probably got an ASOS basket full of items ready for check out (if only you had unlimited funds).

The fashion retailer is the go-to for shoppers, whether it’s a new holiday wardrobe, or a big night out outfit.

And now, ASOS has announced that they’re shutting down the Marketplace section of the website, which features vintage items and collections from independent clothing brands.

ASOS Marketplace has been dubbed ‘underrated’ and ‘amazing’ by fans, but shoppers don’t need to start grieving the loss of yet another fashion retailer (RIP Topshop).

ASOS is migrating its marketplace sellers over to its main site.

It means that those independent sellers will be part of ASOS.com, and shoppers will only have to browse on one central website, to see everything.

ASOS also added that there were benefits from sellers. A statement on their website reads: ‘Brands that migrate will benefit from increased traffic and access to customers, as well as enhanced site functionality such as Buy the Look, which enables customers to buy entire outfits from multiple sellers in one click.’

The migration is set to be completed by April 2025. An ASOS spokesperson confirmed to Metro that ‘the Marketplace site is being shut down’, but added that ‘not all sellers are migrating’.

ASOS’ brand director, Shazmeen Malik said they’re ‘excited’ for the change.

‘This migration embodies our commitment to curating the very best product for our customers and empowers our sellers with increased visibility and enhanced customer experiences whilst maintaining inventory control.

‘We look forward to the future possibilities this integration brings.’

ASOS Marketplace was launched in 2010, and is home to around 800 brands from around the world.

The site particularly saw growth during the Covid pandemic, as demand surged from boutiques looking to join the platform, who had previously been selling at markets or in bricks-and-mortar stores.
