Calling all 90s and 00s babies, we’ve got some very exciting news for you.
A beloved chocolate bar that first launched in the UK in 1996, but was discontinued in 2022, is finally returning to supermarket shelves.
We’re talking of course, about Milky Way Crispy Rolls. Hurrah!
Mars Wrigley has admitted they made ‘a mistake’ in axing the sweet treat, so will be bringing back what social media users dubbed ‘god’s gift’ and the ‘best chocolate bar ever’.
And the cherry on top of the cake? You don’t have to wait long to enjoy one, as you’ll be able to get your hands on it again from February 1, in retailers nationwide.
For those who aren’t familiar with the product, Milky Way Crispy Rolls are a milk chocolate covered wafer biscuit finger, with a lightly whipped filling inside.
And for the very first time, Mars will also be adding two new Crispy Roll flavours to the line-up, including Twix Crispy Rolls and Bounty Crispy Rolls.
Fans of the chocolate bar were distraught after it was axed three years ago, launching a petition to bring it back which garnered more than 8,600 signatures.
On Reddit, one user joked that they were discontinued because ‘we live in a cold dark universe ruled by uncaring gods’, as another claimed it was ‘hell’ without them.
Others mourned the loss of their favourite childhood chocolate bar, with @dylan_bell3 hailing them as ‘god tier’. They posted on X: ‘Milky Way Crispy Rolls and Kinder Happy Hippos are god tier when it comes to chocolate.’
Similarly, @ramzab_a95 wrote: ‘Milky Way Crispy Rolls might be the most underrated chocolate ever. It has a legitimate claim of being in the top 5, maybe top 3’ And @localdishwosher said: ‘Just want some Milky Way Crispy Rolls man. Can’t believe they’ve discontinued the best choc ever.’
Over the last few years a few stores, like B&M and Home Bargains, have been known to sell imported versions of the Crispy Rolls, which divided shoppers as some pointed out they weren’t the same as the original ones, and they ‘tasted grim’.
But thankfully we won’t have to worry about this any longer, as the real deal is returning.
A few hints were dropped about this news, with billboards featuring historical social media posts from upset fans popping up all over London over the last few days to tease the announcement.
A spokesperson for Mars Wrigley commented: ‘We don’t shy away from our mistakes at Mars. We wanted to show that the people had spoken, and we had listened!
‘This is a fan favourite, so we’re celebrating by introducing two new flavours as well. This is all about you – our fans – eating and enjoying life’s simple pleasures; Crispy Rolls!’
