- Bitcoin rose above $60,000 to a two-week high after a prediction market showed greater expectation that the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump increases his chances of winning the election.
- Trump, who is scheduled to speak at a bitcoin event on July 27, posted on social media that he was shot in the right ear at a political rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. His campaign said he was “fine” after the shooting and was looking forward to attending the Republican National Convention that starts in Milwaukee on Monday.
- Bitcoin rose as much as 2.7% to about $60,160.71 early Sunday morning in New York.
- If market reaction after last month’s debate between Trump and President Joe Biden is any indication, the U.S. dollar’s value may rise alongside Treasury yields.
