Can I tell you a secret? Episode seven: an update – podcast

This week we are revisiting the Can I tell you a secret? series. This episode was first broadcast on 10 October 2022.

Guardian reporter Matthew Weaver tells producer Lucy Hough about attending the court of appeal in London. He was there to cover the appeal hearing of Matthew Hardy, who was jailed for nine years in January after pleading guilty to stalking involving fear of violence and harassment after breaching a restraining order.

Hardy and his lawyer were hoping to see that nine-year sentence reduced – to bring forward the date he’ll be able to walk out of prison.
