CET 2025 Begins with Tightened Security and Tech Overhaul – newskarnataka.com

The Common Entrance Test (CET) 2025 kicks off on Tuesday, beginning with the Kannada language paper for Horanadu and Gadinadu candidates. Around 2,500 students will appear for the exam across five centres in Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Vijayapura, and Belagavi. Main subject exams are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.

This year, students will face three key changes as part of heightened exam protocols:

  1. Facial Recognition at Entry: Implemented across all centres, this system—piloted earlier—will authenticate candidates and help eliminate impersonation.
  2. Enhanced Frisking Measures: Specially trained home guards and police personnel will conduct detailed security checks. “There will be one home guard per 100 students, with increased staff due to the higher number of gadgets being used,” said H Prasanna, Executive Director, Karnataka Examinations Authority.
  3. District-Level Webcasting: To strengthen monitoring, live webcasting will be overseen by Zilla Panchayat CEOs, ensuring real-time supervision and transparency.

These changes mark a significant step toward a more secure and tech-driven CET process, aiming to uphold integrity and streamline candidate verification.
