Culpeper AirFest is today
Once again, the skies over Culpeper County will roar with the thunder of historic and high-performance aircraft at the 23rd Annual Culpeper Air Fest from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, at Culpeper Regional Airport, featuring an expanded program that promises fun for the whole family.
Free to the public, the show will thrill with heart-stopping stunts and precision flying performed by historically significant aircraft by some of the nation’s best pilots. The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program returned this year, bigger and better than ever, last Wednesday and Thursday, with hundreds of 5th grade students from the county.
“The Culpeper Air Fest is the largest annual event in Culpeper, and we’re proud to put on another exciting show for 2023! We have a great line up planned with all of your favorite performers eager to be back in Culpeper. The show is free thanks to the support of local businesses, sponsors and our community. We hope to see you there,” said Steve Nixon, Culpeper Air Fest Chairman.

Gates will open this morning with a fabulous model aircraft performance. The full show starts around noon. The show will continue with regular performers such as Bealeton’s Flying Circus and Kevin Russo and his team of Jersey Jerks performing in their T-6 Texans.
Also returning this year, crowd favorite Manfred Radius will dazzle the audience with his aerobatic glider act. Prepare yourself for an entertaining afternoon of amazing stunts by a variety of pilots.
Check out various vendors and static displays and remember to bring sunscreen, hearing protection and a chair. Please leave pups at home as the loud noises tend to startle them. There is no on-site parking for spectators at the airport. Buses will be available from Eastern View High School and Culpeper County High School, free of charge. In the event of rain or drizzle, the Air Fest will still be excited to host as many activities and acts as they safely can.
House passes resolution supporting Israel
U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger, D-7th, this week joined U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-Texas), Ranking Member Gregory W. Meeks (D-N.Y.) and 390 colleagues to introduce a bipartisan resolution standing with Israel as it defends itself against the war launched by Hamas terrorists and condemning Hamas’ brutal war against Israel.
“As a former CIA case officer and current member of the House Intelligence Committee, I know that the United States must continue to stand by our ally and provide Israel with the intelligence, defense and humanitarian assistance it needs to secure its borders and neutralize the Hamas terrorists,” said Spanberger. ”The events we are seeing unfold in Israel are horrific beyond words, and I join my colleagues in unequivocally condemning Hamas’ abhorrent crimes and attacks.”
“President Biden has committed the United States fully to Israel’s self-defense,” said Meeks. “Israel is responding to the Hamas terror organization’s unprecedented attack. The bipartisan resolution will demonstrate this is one issue in which the U.S. House of Representatives is united, and I expect it to pass the House with broad bipartisan support.”
“Now is the time to show the world the United States firmly stands with our friend and ally Israel in our condemnation of this heinous attack by Iran-backed terrorists,” said McCaul. “I expect this bipartisan resolution to be one of the first, if not the first items considered on the floor once we elect a new Speaker. And I expect it to receive overwhelming bipartisan support.”
