Nurgisa Architects Redefines Traditional nomadic Design
Nurgisa Architects introduces the concept of the Modern Kazakh Yurt, a transformable dwelling inspired by traditional nomadic design. The yurt’s layout strategically accommodates bedrooms and workspaces around the 25 sqm perimeter, with a centralized area for kitchen and toilet facilities. The project emphasizes efficiency through transformable furniture, including beds and chairs, optimizing the use of internal space. The exterior of plywood panel segments features a flexible polymer film embedded with organic semiconductors, generating electricity. Each square meter of the electric polymer film produces 1 kW/hour, with additional electricity supplied by telescopic elements, contributing 5.3 kW. The generated power is stored in batteries for household appliance use.

The small dwelling utilizes telescopic volumetric elements, resembling the typical yurt image, and can adapt to steppe areas through segment extension and shifting, creating an enclosed or open living space based on weather conditions. To minimize environmental impact, the design team incorporates an autonomous biological system for wastewater treatment, ensuring ecological sustainability. The project integrates eco-friendly materials such as glued plywood with a basalt fiber heat-protective layer for wall segments. The innovative approach allows the structure to merge with its surroundings, providing a harmonious living experience that embraces traditional nomadic principles while addressing contemporary ecological considerations.
