Doing More with Less: A Hands-Free Door Handle

Freely, by industrial designer Giulio Iacchetti

A good example of making something more useful by removing material: This beautiful Freely door handle is by Milan-based industrial designer Giulio Iacchetti.

“Freely is a handle but also the idea of a new gesture. Freely frees us from the burden of having clumsy hands and not knowing how to open a door, so it is activated by offering a suitable support for the elbow. A spontaneous gesture that becomes normal and comfortable thanks to the subtraction of matter, the emptying of the normally ‘full’ part of classic handles.”

It comes in three finishes.

Freely is in production by Italian manufacturer Dnd.
