Gujarat ministers, officials attend session on use of AI, deep tech in governance

Ministers and bureaucrats in Gujarat attended a session on deep-tech, data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) on Tuesday, the second day of the “Chintan Shivir” or brainstorming session of the state government in Gir Somnath district.

As per an official release, Jigar Halani, director of solution architect & engineering at Nvidia, took the session, speaking about the ways in which new-age technology such as AI, deep tech and data analytics can help the government implement public welfare campaigns and improve the delivery of services to the people.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, all state ministers, chief secretary Raj Kumar and other senior bureaucrats attended the session. Halani spoke about how Gujarat can be turned into a “model AI” state and efforts made in that direction, the release said.

He said thanks to AI, people are able to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popular radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat‘ in 23 languages. Halani also gave a detailed presentation on how technology can be used to deliver the benefits of government schemes.

In view of Gujarat’s rich culture and heritage, he also elaborated on the use of AI to popularise local art, expand businesses and provide employment to local artisans.

Halani’s presentation also focussed on steps the government can take to increase the use of AI and how this technology can provide employment opportunities to the youth of Gujarat at the local level.
