HCLFoundation, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of IT services firm HCLTech, said it will award grants of Rs 5 crore ($2 million) each to three non-governmental organisations (NGOs) engaged in the fields of environment, health, and education. Six runner up NGOs will each be given Rs 25 lakh ($29,000) each.Since its inception in 2011, it has awarded Rs 152.8 crore (around $18.4 million) through its grant initiative to help scale “high-impact projects”.
This year, winning NGOs in different categories will receive a total Rs 16.5 crore (approximately $2 million) for transformative projects, including biodiversity conservation in the Sundarbans, eradication of childhood blindness and inclusive education through tactile resources, it said.
In its tenth edition, the foundation received over 13,925 registrations from Indian NGOs participating in the environment, health and education categories. HCLFoundation supported 59 projects in the sustainable development space across 142 districts in 22 States and two Union Territories.
