HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: Enterprise, Geneva go unbeaten in FestiVBALL pool play – Dothan Eagle


Both Enterprise and Geneva volleyball teams went undefeated to win their pool during Tuesday’s action at the Fall FestiVBALL Tournament at the Link Academy near Wicksburg.

Enterprise defeated Eufaula and Houston Academy to win its pool, while Geneva swept both Rehobeth and Providence Christian.

Tuesday’s action was the final day of pool play at the three-day tournament, which now moves into bracket play on Thursday.

The eight-team Gold Bracket, to determine the tournament champion, was set up with the top two teams from each of the pools advancing. The Silver Bracket features the remaining five teams.

Opening Gold Bracket play features Enterprise against Wicksburg and Geneva versus Northside Methodist at 3 p.m., followed by G.W. Long against Providence Christian and Ashford against Houston Academy at 4:15. The winners advance to the semifinals at 5:30 p.m. The semifinal winners will play in the championship set for 6:45 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Silver Bracket has Rehobeth playing Slocomb at 3 p.m. with the winner playing Geneva County at 4:15 p.m. Eufaula and Carroll play in the other semifinal at 4:15 p.m. The two semifinal winners play in the bracket championship at 5:30 p.m.

Geneva wins two: Geneva defeated Providence Christian 25-13, 25-17 and Rehobeth 25-8, 25-13.

On the day, Cheyenne Hammock earned six aces, 31 assists, 11 kills and 15 digs, Hayden Howell delivered 14 assists and 12 kills and RayAnna Ausley amassed 19 kills and 23 digs. Aubree Lamb had 27 digs and three aces and Aubrey Simon had six blocks and four kills. Quin Barnett had three kills in the win over PCS.

Enterprise wins two: Enterprise beat Eufaula 25-7, 25-9 and Houston Academy 25-15, 25-20.

No other information was available late Tuesday night.

PCS splits: Providence Christian went 1-1 on Tuesday, beating Rehobeth 26-24, 26-24 and losing to Geneva 25-13, 25-17.

On the day, Carlee Smith had six kills, six digs and two aces, Laura Faulk had 25 assists and three kills and Elizabeth Ann Ingram had four aces and four kills. Also in the two matches, Lauren Bailey had 20 digs, three aces and three kills, Dantzler Dowling had eight kills (all against Rehobeth) and Abby Bancroft had 14 digs.

Houston Academy splits: Houston Academy went 1-1, defeating Dale County 25-19, 25-14 and losing to Enterprise 25-15, 25-20.

Millie Gay had 18 kills, five aces and two blocks and Anne Davis Sinquefield had 12 kills to lead HA. Molly Rutland delivered 26 assists, two aces, two kills and two digs and Rylie Spence 10 assists and two digs. Sofia Langford had three aces and nine digs, while Mallory Magrino had 17 digs and Kaleigh Heard had five digs. Emily Adams added two kills and two digs.

Eufaula splits: Eufaula fell to Enterprise 25-7, 25-9 and beat Dale County 25-11, 27-25.

For the day, Kyla Richardson earned 14 kills, nine digs and three blocks, Sahdia Wright amassed six aces, six kills and three blocks and Jade Barnett distributed 17 assists.

Rehobeth goes 0-2: Rehobeth fell to Providence Christian 26-24, 26-24 and to Geneva 25-18, 25-23.

Kryslin Martin led Rehobeth with 16 kills, two aces, 11 blocks and 19 digs. Emily Arnold delivered 25 assists, three kills, two blocks and eight digs. Kerigan Freeman had three aces and 12 digs, Brailyn Werner had three kills and eight digs and Karaline Paulk had four blocks and four digs. Payton Goodin earned six blocks and Shelby Davis 10 digs and Jessa Buker delivered 20 assists.

Dale County goes 0-2: Dale County went 0-2, falling to Houston Academy 25-19, 25-14 and to Eufaula 25-11, 27-25.

Against HA, Jas Smith had two aces, two kills and four blocks, Karoline Killingsworth and Leah Grace Snellgrove had two assists each and Kailyn David had two blocks.

Versus Eufaula, Shayleigh Whitman had two aces, Smith had three kills, Snellgrove had three assists and Killingsworth had two assists.

Kinston downs Elba: Kinston defeated Elba 25-23, 25-21, 25-19, improving to 16-12 on the season.

Gracie Rhoades had four aces and four kills, Allyx Williamson had four kills and Rylie Rhoades had 19 assists. Sage Beck had four kills and five blocks.

Barbour County falls to Abbeville: Barbour County lost to Abbeville 25-18, 25-20, 25-23.

For Barbour County, Yaneli Sosa had seven aces and Enasia Ivory three aces.

On Monday, the Jaguars fell to Daleville 18-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-22.

Gabby Merrill served on seven points and Tiana Boykins and Zy’quoya Devose six points each.

ACA wins two: Abbeville Christian defeated Trinity Christian on Monday night, 25-13, 16-25, 25-19, 26-24 and beat The Oaks School on Tuesday, 25-3, 25-8, 25-19.

Wiregrass Kings win: The Wiregrass Kings defeated Byne Christian of Albany, Ga., in Tuesday action, winning 25-16, 20-25, 25-18, 25-20.

Becca Wise had seven aces, 15 kills and five digs, while Janie Waddell delivered 21 assists, 14 digs and two kills and Jessie Tedder had two aces and 12 digs. Avery Barnes had three aces, two kills and two assists, Avery Wilson four kills and two digs and Ellie Alford three aces and four digs.

Ariton wins two: Ariton defeated Goshen 25-15, 25-12 and New Brockton 25-20, 25-15 on Monday.

Against Goshen, Aubrey Ezell had two aces and seven kills, Sarah Turvey had two aces and three kills and Nya Allen had seven kills.

Versus New Brockton, Allen had eight kills, Turvey six kills and Madison Guilford three kills.

Barbour County wins two: Barbour County defeated Daleville 25-27, 25-17, 15-7 on Monday night, and beat Abbeville 25-14, 25-18 on Tuesday.

In Monday’s win, Ashanti McCray had seven aces and Dylyah Crews three aces. In Tuesday’s win, Kaylie McLeod had four aces and McCray and Crews had two each.

Wiregrass Kings earn sweep: The Wiregrass Kings JV team earned a 26-24, 25-20 sweep over Byne Christian of Albany, Ga.

Avery Wilson earned 11 kills, two aces and two digs, Josie Duren delivered 10 assists and five digs, while Sydney Tedder had two aces and two digs and Avery Barnes three digs.
