IT firm Cyient appoints Sukamal Banerjee as CEO

Engineering solutions company Cyient on Wednesday appointed Sukamal Banerjee as executive director and chief executive officer of its DET business for a five-year period starting February 29. He will also serve on the Board of Directors of Cyient Limited.The appointment comes after Karthikeyan Natarajan resigned as Cyient’s CEO and executive director last month following poor third quarter financial results reported by the company.

Banerjee was previously CEO of Chrys Capital-backed digital engineering company Xoriant, which on Tuesday named Rohit Kedia, who was earlier chief growth officer of LTIMindtree, its new CEO.

Banerjee was hired to Xoriant in March 2023 from IT giant HCLTech, where he served nearly 27 years rising to corporate vice president.

In Q3 FY 2025, Hyderabad-headquartered Cyient’s profits declined nearly 30% sequentially and 28.3% year-on year to Rs 124 crore. Its revenue dipped 0.8% YoY to Rs 1,480 crore.

“Sukamal is an accomplished professional and an acknowledged leader in the ER&D and Technology sector with over 30 years of experience,” Cyient said in a statement, highlighting Banjeree’s achievements in growing business lines and partnerships in areas like digital industry 4.0 and AI/ML across sectors spanning communications, semiconductor, energy, and others, which align well with Cyient’s major customer segments.

Banerjee’s appointment will be subject to approval of the shareholders and the central government, as applicable, Cyient said in a regulatory filing.
