Calling all Lidl bakery lovers…
Just when you thought the bakery section couldn’t get any better, the discount retailer has only gone and added another new item to its range.
Hot off the heels of the release of the Mini Egg Brownie and Brioche Chocolate Croissant, Lidl has launched a brand new Cinnamon Bun Blondie.
The new product is a blondie, swirled with cinnamon and topped with a white icing, and it costs just 89p per slice.
It’s only been available for a few days, but numerous shoppers have already given it a try and the reaction so far has been pretty interesting, with some claiming it’s ‘amazing’ but others thinking it’s ‘vile’.
A snap of the blondie was shared on Facebook by New Foods UK, and more than 800 people have responded with their thoughts.
Clare O’Sullivan was a fan, sharing: ‘I had one on Friday, it was gorgeous.’ And a customer known only Shelby also thought ‘it was gorgeous’.
Similarly, Leah Conway replied: ‘Had one of these today. Was lovely, lots of cinnamon.’ While Mike Swailes proclaimed: ‘89p. M&S could never.’
Over on Instagram, users also hailed the sweet treat as ‘amazing’, ‘really nice’ and ‘delicious’.

However, not everyone was quite so keen on this new bakery item, with Jack Andrews commenting: ‘Weren’t great in my opinion. Tasted like artificial sweetener.’
Leigh Osborne wasn’t a fan either, saying: ‘Bought two today. They’re awful. Also undercooked!!’ And Danielle Marie agreed, posting: ‘Vile, got a rubbery texture.’
Matt David also had one major gripe about the product, writing: ‘Couldn’t taste any cinnamon in the ones I had.’
While Allyson Knox complained: ‘Lidl brownie and blondies [are] HALF the size they used to be.’
For those who may not know, Lidl’s bakery has a cult following and several impressive accolades under its belt, including being crowned the nation’s favourite in 2024.
The most popular product is the All Butter Croissant, as 122 of them are sold every single minute. So if the new items don’t sound like one for you, it might be easier to play it safe and just opt for a croissant.
But if you like trying new things, you’re in luck as Lidl isn’t the only shop with fun goodies on the shelves right now. M&S caused a stir recently as they dropped new Dippy Egg Hot Cross Buns £3.50 for a pack of six).
The intensely chocolatey buns have been hailed a ‘game-changer’ by the supermarket, and feature a soft cocoa bun and a gooey yellow and white chocolate filling.
