Lisa Rose to Retire from KY3 After 41 Years

KY3 anchor Lisa Rose said she is retiring from the Springfield, Missouri NBC affiliate after 41 years. Her last day is scheduled for July 25.

She joined the station in 1984 and anchors the KY3 News at Noon and KY3 News at 6, along with two weekly segments on KY3′s streaming channel. She also does monthly Buddy Check 3 stories about breast cancer.

“All these years in television news have been more rewarding than I ever could have imagined,” said Rose. “It’s been a constant education in so many ways, from learning the ever-changing tools and technology to delivering the news day in and day out, to crash courses on everything from new laws to medical breakthroughs, from farming to banking, and so much more.”

The station said her first job ever was at the A&W in the local mall when she was 17 years old. After getting her bachelor’s degree in TV news from Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, she moved to Joplin, Missouri and worked at KODE. Four years later, she became a reporter and anchor at KY3.

“Many of our viewers have grown up with Lisa and feel like she is just as much part of their family as she is ours here at the station,” news director Bridget Lovelle said. “People across the Ozarks know Lisa for her calm and understanding during some of the toughest times we’ve ever experienced. Behind the scenes, Lisa is just as kind and empathetic as viewers have imagined. We are honored to have worked with her. She will be greatly missed.”
