Local startups chosen to take part in global tech conference – Connacht Tribune Group

Local startups Precision Sports Technology and CitySwift have been chosen to attend the global tech conference Web Summit in November.

And last week they were among those gathering in Galway as part of efforts to showcase the best of Irish enterprise on a global scale.

The special Runway to Web Summit event took place at the Galway City Distillery to celebrate Irish startups ahead of the prestigious global technology event in Lisbon in November.

Web Summit is one of the world’s largest technology events companies, headquartered in Dublin with operations around the globe.

In all, 24 of the best Irish start-ups have been selected by Web Summit to exhibit at the Irish Island during its global conference and to promote the Irish startup ecosystem.

To mark the launch of the Irish Island at Web Summit, the Runway to Web Summit event gave a platform to local start-ups and special guests, creating an opportunity for members of the Irish startup ecosystem to connect before the Lisbon event.

Emma Meehan is the founder of Galway-based Precision Sports Technology, which helps optimise fitness training and reduce the risk of injury to athletes.

Emma spoke at the Runway To Web Summit event in Galway about the significance of the Irish Hub at Web Summit and what it means to partaking start-ups.

“Web Summit is the biggest tech networking event in the world and offers us a great opportunity to raise awareness of our innovative technology and to meet with hundreds of investors,” she said.

“In the lead up to Web Summit we have been given invaluable support on a range of topics from accessing VCs to marketing our solution. We are so excited to showcase our brand new product on the world’s most influential tech stage,” she added.
