Nikkei May Decline; Continued Caution About Borrowing Costs

2344 GMT — Japanese stocks may decline amid continued caution about policy tightening by central banks and higher costs of borrowing. Nikkei futures are down 0.2% at 30635 on the SGX. Investors are focusing on the Bank of Japan’s policy meeting outcome due later in the day. Corporate earnings are also in focus. USD/JPY is at 149.13, compared with 149.63 as of Monday’s Tokyo stock market close. The Nikkei Stock Average fell 1.0% to 30696.96 on Monday. (kosaku.narioka@wsj.com)
