No internet in Ambala villages

Ambala: In a late-night order on Friday, the Haryana government has suspended mobile internet services, bulk SMS, and all dongle services in the villages of Dangdehri, Lohgarh, Manakpur, Dadiyana, Bari Ghel, Choti Ghel, Lharsa, Kalu Majra, Devi Nagar (Hira Nagar, Naresh Vihar), Saddopur, Sultanpur, and Kakru. The order is effective till the night of Dec 17. This action was taken in anticipation of protesting farmers resuming their Delhi Kooch (foot march).
To prevent tension, annoyance, agitation, damage to public and private property, and disturbance of public peace and tranquility in Ambala district, the Haryana government has suspended internet services in these villages near Shambhu border. The government fears that the internet could be misused to spread inflammatory material and false rumours through social media platforms, facilitating and mobilising “mobs of agitators and demonstrators who could cause serious loss of life, damage to public and private properties by indulging in arson, vandalism, and other violent activities.”
