North Carolina Anchor Leaves Local TV to Work for State Treasurer


Former Spectrum News 1 anchor Loretta Boniti will join the Department of State Treasurer as the Director of Strategic Communications and Media Relations.

Boniti was a political anchor and senior political reporter for more than 16 years at Spectrum News. She is the new director of strategic communications and media relations under State Treasurer Brad Briner.

“Loretta has earned a reputation as a nonpartisan communicator who excels at getting clear and concise information to the public,” Briner said in a news release. “I am very excited for her to join the team and use her skills to serve as a conduit between the Department and the people of North Carolina on issues important to their daily lives.”

Boniti’s last day on air was Monday, January 20.

Before coming to Spectrum News 1, Boniti worked as a journalist at NBC29 in Virginia and WDNN in Georgia, where she was an anchor, reporter and news director.
