Yerawada, 20th December 2024: To prevent prisoners from escaping, the prison administration has introduced an updated system to closely monitor inmate movements. In the first phase, biometrics, panic alarms, and public address systems were installed at Yerwada Central Jail. This initiative was launched during the 2023-24 fiscal year under the Modernization of Prisons Project and implemented by Invader Technologies Pvt Ltd, Gurugram, Haryana. The system was inaugurated recently by Dr. Jalindar Supekar, Special Inspector General of Police for the Maharashtra Prison Department.
The implementation was carried out under the guidance of Inspector General of Prisons Prashant Burde, Dr. Jalindar Supekar, and Deputy Inspector General of Police (Prisons) Swati Sathe. Present at the inauguration were Superintendent of Yerwada Central Jail Sunil Dhamal, Shashank Mishra from Invader Technologies, and other officers and employees. It was announced that the system will be introduced in other prisons across the state in a phased manner. Additional Superintendent Pallavi Kadam, Deputy Superintendents Dr. B. N. Dhole and R. E. Gaikwad, Senior Jail Officer A. S. Kande, Jail Officer Shivaji Patil, C. R. Sangle, and representatives from the company were also present.
