Rivian is stepping up its game to attract internal combustion engine (ICE) and hybrid vehicle owners by extending and expanding its incentive program. Under the expanded All-Electric Upgrade Offer, the EV maker has doubled its previous discounts on select R1 configurations for buyers in the US and Canada. Up to $6,000 (USD) or $8,600 (CAD) worth of discount is available when purchasing a new Rivian R1S or R1T through the R1 Shop.

2025 Rivian R1S SUV
The 2025 Rivian R1S is a premium electric SUV that offers a blend of off-road prowess and luxury amenities. Its three-row configuration provides ample seating for passengers, while its spacious cargo area can accommodate a variety of gear. The R1S’s powertrain options, including a quad-motor setup, deliver impressive acceleration and range, making it suitable for both daily commutes and long road trips.
While the R1S has garnered praise for its performance and features, it also comes with a significant price tag. Additionally, its availability has been limited, making it a less accessible option for some consumers. Despite these factors, the R1S remains a compelling choice for those seeking a high-performance electric SUV with off-road capabilities.

2025 Rivian R1T Truck
The 2025 Rivian R1T is a powerful electric pickup truck with a range of options. It offers impressive performance, with multiple motor configurations delivering varying levels of power and acceleration. While it’s not the cheapest electric truck on the market, it offers a unique blend of capability and efficiency. The R1T’s design is distinctive, and its interior is modern and well-equipped. However, it’s important to note that it may not be the most practical choice for heavy-duty work.
Rivian’s offer reinforces its push to encourage more drivers to transition to all-electric vehicles, especially those hesitant to part ways with their ICE or hybrid cars. The terms are simple: qualifying buyers must prove ownership or a lease of a gas-powered or hybrid vehicle to access the discount. There’s no requirement to trade in the vehicle – just a trade-in estimate would suffice to qualify.
Discounts Vary Per Configuration
- Dual with Max battery: $3,000 (USD) or $4,300 (CAD)
- Dual with Max battery and Performance Upgrade: $4,500 (USD) or $6,500 (CAD)
- Tri with Max battery: $6,000 (USD) or $8,600 (CAD)
While the discounts are significant, Rivian maintains some key restrictions. Custom-builds, demo models, pre-owned vehicles, and Dual Standard configurations are excluded from the promotion. Additionally, the offer cannot be combined with other promotions, transferred to another buyer, or redeemed for cash. Orders must be placed on January 21 and delivered by March 31, 2025, to secure a discount.
Rivian’s timing is strategic, as the EV market grows increasingly competitive, and the EV startup looks to stand out not only with its rugged, adventure-ready designs but also with attractive pricing options. It’s also ramping up its numbers for this year, considering that it showed relative success in 2024, particularly with its electric R1T truck.
More Intelligent Rivians Are Coming
This isn’t Rivian’s first attempt to attract more customers to the brand. The company previously launched discounts for pre-owned R1 models and introduced a referral program inspired by Tesla’s approach. Now, with double discounts on its newest R1 configurations, Rivian is clearly doubling down on its mission to convert traditional car owners to EV enthusiasts.
