

Traffic was impacted for approximately an hour on Route 59 in North Barrington after a series of three crashes involved nine vehicles Thursday evening, the sheriff said.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 6:20 p.m. Thursday to the area of Route 22 and Route 59 in North Barrington for a vehicle crash.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said the two-car crash occurred northbound on Route 59 south of Route 22.


The crash was minor and no injuries were reported.
A driver who was passing by the scene looking at the crash ended up rear-ending a car, which rear-ended another car, Covelli said. No injuries were reported.
A few minutes later a third similar crash occurred. A driver rear-ended another car, which rear-ended another car.
No injuries were reported in the third crash, Covelli said.


The Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Department and Barrington Fire Department responded to the scene to evaluate the occupants involved.
One of the nine cars involved had to be towed from the scene.
Covelli said traffic on Route 59 was slowed down for approximately an hour until the scenes were cleared.
