Bitcoin treasury company Strategy has acquired an additional 3,459 BTC for approximately $285.8 million at an average price of $82,618 per Bitcoin BTC/USD, bringing its total holdings to 531,644 BTC—equivalent to more than 2.5% of Bitcoin’s total supply.
What Happened: According to an SEC filing on Monday, the purchases occurred between April 7 and April 13, funded by proceeds from the sale of 959,712 shares of Strategy’s class A common stock MSTR.
This acquisition follows a brief pause in buying during the first week of April, when the company reported unrealized losses of $5.91 billion for Q1 after spending approximately $7.66 billion to acquire 80,715 BTC at an average price of around $94,922.
Executive chairman Michael Saylor hinted at the purchase a day before the official announcement, posting “No tariffs on orange dots” on social media alongside an update to the company’s Bitcoin purchase tracker.
Strategy’s total Bitcoin holdings are now worth over $45 billion, acquired at an average price of $67,556 per Bitcoin for a total cost of around $35.9 billion, including fees and expenses.
Despite Q1 marking bitcoin’s worst quarterly performance since 2018—dropping nearly 12%—Strategy has continued its aggressive acquisition strategy.

Why It Matters: The company still has substantial capital available for future purchases, with $2.08 billion worth of MSTR shares and $20.97 billion worth of STRK shares remaining available for issuance and sale under its offering programs.
These offerings are part of Strategy’s ambitious “21/21 plan,” which targets a total capital raise of $42 billion for Bitcoin acquisitions.
While some investors have expressed concerns about Strategy’s premium to NAV valuation, analysts at Bernstein remain optimistic.
With debt under 13% and no payments due until 2028, they consider the firm’s leverage manageable and predict Strategy’s Bitcoin holdings could double to over one million BTC by the end of 2033.
