Stubborn grime 'melts away' from oven doors with £1.50 'miracle' product

You could get your oven sparkling clean with just one product.

Cleaning an oven is no easy task. Although many of us use it every day, it often gets neglected when we’re doing a quick tidy around the kitchen, as it takes far too long and needs to be given special attention.

This means we often go longer than we should without cleaning our ovens. Because we use them to cook a variety of foods, they can quickly accumulate grease and grime that becomes burnt and refuses to budge.

All this means our ovens are one of the most annoying things in the kitchen to clean. We know it’s a job that needs doing, but the thought of having to spend hours scrubbing at weeks or months of grime makes us run for the hills.

But what if we told you there’s an easier way? Cleaning fans have uncovered a “miracle” product that vows to have your oven looking brand new in as little as 35 minutes.

In a post on Reddit, one cleaning enthusiast was wowed by the effectiveness of Pink Stuff paste, which can be used to clean a variety of surfaces around the house but is particularly good at cleaning ovens and oven doors.

They wrote: “The Pink Stuff! Wow! The Pink Stuff cleaned the oven in my new house so well. Total working time was 35 minutes!”

The person also shared pictures of their oven during the cleaning process and after the work had finished. In the photo taken during cleaning, patches of burnt food could still be seen on the bottom of the oven, but the after picture looked sparkling clean.

In the comments, the person said they left the paste to sit for five minutes, before later giving a full breakdown of the exact steps they took to use the product on their oven.

Their steps were as follows:

  1. Put a thin layer of paste on the oven

  2. Scrub with Scrub Daddy

  3. Wipe with warm water on microfibre cloths

  4. Use a new microfibre cloth with warm water and rinse until the paste is all gone
  5. Dry with paper towels

Commenters on the post were thankful for their advice, with many saying they would be trying it out themselves as soon as possible. One person said: “Thank you so much! Going to try my damnedest to get mine sparkling.” Another added: “I really need to order this stuff, wow!”

Pink Stuff paste is available for around £1.50 at most supermarkets and shops such as B&M and The Range.

How to clean an oven

If you don’t want to use Pink Stuff paste, you can make a DIY oven cleaner paste using baking soda and water. Mixing around half a cup of baking soda with a few tablespoons of water should do the trick, and you can add some washing up liquid for extra grease-cutting power if you need it.

  • Spread the baking soda paste on the inside of the oven, focusing on areas with burnt-on grease
  • If you can, leave it overnight to allow the paste to get to work
  • Use a damp sponge or cloth and wipe out all the baking soda paste and grime
  • Spray the oven with undiluted white vinegar in a spray bottle
  • Wipe everything down with a clean damp cloth or sponge

The baking soda paste can also clean the oven door by following the same steps.
