Taipei, Oct. 16 (CNA) Several Taiwanese tech firms that took part in a recent talent recruitment campaign in India are expected to hire 148 professionals from the South Asian country, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) said Monday.

In a statement, the MOEA said the ministry had the government-sponsored Taiwan External Trade Development Council hold a campus recruitment campaign in Chennai, the capital city of the state of Tamil Nadu, Oct. 11-13.

The event targeted tech students and graduates from Vellore Institute of Technology, SRM Institute of Science and Technology and Saveetha Engineering College, and a total of 37,565 resumes were received by nine Taiwanese companies.

The nine Taiwanese companies included iPhone assembler Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., contract chipmaker United Microelectronics Corp., PC brand Acer Inc., and IC packaging and testing service provider Powertech Technology Inc.

These companies made 148 offers to people in a wide range of fields, including software and hardware engineers, equipment engineers, overseas business representatives and project managers, the MOEA said.

In addition to the resumes they received, the MOEA said, the Taiwanese companies held face-to-face meetings with 623 job seekers.

The MOEA said Taiwanese companies were eagerly seeking talent in research and development, and India had abundant IT professionals to meet Taiwan’s needs.
