Travellers are experiencing major delays at Montreal’s Trudeau International Airport on Tuesday due to ongoing technical issues.
The airport says the delays are mainly at check-in for Air Canada and Sunwing domestic and international flights.
There are also issues at security checkpoints, as well as issues with the system for tagging baggage.
“At the moment, unfortunately, I can’t say when during the day we’ll be able to restore the network,” Anne-Sophie Hamel, spokesperson for Aéroports de Montréal (ADM), told reporters on Tuesday at around 11 a.m.
And once systems are restored, she pointed out that there would still be delays due to the disruption that began on Tuesday morning.
She said the delays are due to a network update that was scheduled for yesterday and that didn’t go as planned.
The issues are primarily affecting passengers headed south to sun destinations.

All passengers are advised to check-in for their flights online, plan ahead and arrive at the airport well in advance.
The airport recommends travellers check for flight status information with their airlines because arrival and departure times on the website are not being updated properly.
“YUL Montréal-Trudeau is operational,” wrote Eric Forest, spokesperson for AdM in a statement sent to CBC News earlier in the day.
“A contingency plan has been deployed and our teams are working to restore the situation as soon as possible.”
Kenny Sirois arrived early at the airport Tuesday morning with his family for their flight to Cancun, but their Mexican vacation was delayed by more than 12 hours. He’s hoping the flight will actually take off at the newest scheduled time of 9 p.m.
“We’re not really happy,” he said. “It’s my first trip with my kids.”
Eric Ness was also at the airport with his kids Tuesday morning, waiting for a flight that was delayed until 9 p.m.
“I’m still excited to be at the beach,” he said. “We will catch some sun and some good weather soon, I hope.”
Dominic Nerneau arrived at the airport at 6 a.m., and his flight was delayed several times. He said the delay is costing him a day of vacation.
