A TINY coastal village is set to be big in 2024 – with it often overlooked by tourists.
Most holidaymakers heading to Pembrokeshire will head to Broad Haven or Whitesands Bay.
But the tiny village of Little Haven is often missed – and is looking to be popular this year.
New research by Independent Cottages found it was one of the more popular locations being searched Brits.
Around 5.14 per cent of all searches were for Little Haven, with holidaymakers looking to go off the beaten track for their next staycation.
Matthew Fox, CEO of Independent Cottages, said: “Given our current economic climate and the issue of over-tourism that several UK holiday destinations have been facing in recent years, this may be the core reason why our data shows travellers are casting their eyes on new destinations.
“There’s no doubt that popular hotspots will not be neglected this year by Brits in search of a quick getaway or extended break.
“But it appears that it’s the ‘lesser-discovered’ that’s piqued their interest more recently.”
Found on the west coast of Pembrokeshire, Little Haven is an old fishing village wither fewer tourists than the nearby.
The tiny sandy cove is popular with holidaymakers in the summer months.
At low ride, you can even walk around to another bay The Settlands, and even Broad Haven.
Keep an eye out for the local wildlife too, with seals sometimes spotted.
Walkers often travel via Little Haven too, with it being on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.
There are three pubs to choose from too – The Castle, which is on the seafront, as well as The Swan and The Point.
Mr Fox also recommended The Swan for being a hidden gem, with the Pembrokeshire Earlies (new potatoes with butter) a must.
While there aren’t many other stores, there is a cafe, bistro and tiny shop too.
If you fancy staying, you can opt for B&Bs and guesthouses but hotels are found out of town, as well as camping sites.
Previous tourists have raved about Little Haven, with one saying its a “beautiful beach in a beautiful place”.
Another wrote: “This ‘off the beaten track’ small village is an absolute treat for those seeking an escape from the world.
“The beach is immaculate and offers safe sheltered bathing with a lovely quiet sandy & shale beach at low tide.”
There is no train station in Little Haven, although there are a number of bus routes passing through.
If travelling by car, it’s around two hours from Cardiff.
Here are some other hidden gems across Wales to discover this summer.
Also in Wales is Barafundle Bay, which has been compared to something from Game of Thrones, being tucked behind the cliffs.
It has even previously been named one of the best beaches in the world.
Otherwise there is also Marloes Sands, which was used to film the 2011 film Snow White And The Huntsman, as well as the 1968 The Lion in Winter.
