Train derails in Johnsonville, two cars in Hoosic River

JOHNSONVILLE, N.Y. —
A 94-car train derailed in Johnsonville at around 8:53 p.m. on Wednesday. Of the 94 cars, 10 left the tracks and two carrying small plastic pellets went into the Hoosic River, according to the emergency manager for Rensselaer County.
State Route 67, which borders the Hoosic River, is closed in Valley Falls between State Street and Requate Road. The road is expected to be closed for the rest of the night, according to Hoosic Valley Fire Chief Mark Sheline.
According to Rensselaer County, there were no hazardous materials involved and no injuries were reported. Sheline said there is no harm to the public.
