Superimpose takes over Huawei Flagship Store Beijing’s design
Superimpose undertakes the design of Huawei’s inaugural Beijing Flagship Store located in the city’s historic center, specifically in Wangfujing, a longstanding shopping avenue near the Forbidden City. The design incorporates a contemporary reinterpretation of architectural elements inspired by ancient Beijing landmarks such as the Forbidden City and the Great Wall. Spanning over 1200 sqm across two floors, the store aligns with Huawei‘s commitment to a connected, intelligent world.
The store‘s interior, in line with Superimpose’s motto ‘expectation + 1,’ features a central product showroom characterized by minimalism, ensuring an optimal display of Huawei’s diverse product portfolio. Additionally, the concept of an ‘Urban Living Room’ is introduced, providing spaces like the ‘Urban Oasis Café’ for interaction and exploration. The layout follows the sequence of squares, scale variation, and symmetry reminiscent of ancient Chinese architecture.

Superimpose’s Innovative Design achieves Symmetry and Elegance
To address the original footprint’s lack of symmetry, the design team at Superimpose Architecture introduces a thick limestone wall that divides the store into a symmetrical sales area and the themed Urban Oasis Café. Inspired by the Great Wall, this robust divider mimics a brick wall. The cafe, resembling an inviting living room, boasts warm materials, wooden ceiling boards, and lush green walls, encouraging product interaction.
The facade mirrors the grandeur of ancient Chinese architecture, featuring a two-story high glass facade framed by curved UHPC panels that replicate the city’s undulating rooflines. The technical precision ensures a clean finish, and the 8.8-meter-high glass panels invite passersby into the store. Inside, an LED curved screen in the Oasis Café connects the exterior and interior seamlessly, creating an inviting entrance without excessive ornamentation. The design prioritizes Huawei’s digital ecosystem in the heart of Beijing.
