Volunteers in Norway knit 950 pairs of mittens for ski championships

In February and March, Trondheim will host the Nordic World Ski Championships, and all the athletes will receive a pair of hand-knitted mittens.

Knitting mittens for the athletes has sparked enthusiasm among the city’s knitters.

The knitting group has nearly 8,000 members on Facebook and is gaining new members across the country.

Knitting is part of the drive by the championship organisers to bring people together before the championships which run from 26 February to 9 March.
