Shiv, in Shaivism, is depicted both benevolently and fearsomely in Puranas. As Nataraj, he embodies the Lord of Dance, with iconographical attributes like the crescent moon, trident, and bull Nandi. Internally, Shiv is perceived as Neel Purush, the Ultimate Reality, leading a seeker to realize the unity of existence with him.
